Thursday, June 23, 2005 at 01:00 JST
VIENNA — The Austrian government has confirmed the country's second case of mad cow disease in an 11-year old cow, four years after the first case was detected.

The announcement, made by health minister Maria Rauch-Kallat and environment minister Josef Proell on Tuesday, said the brain-wasting disorder was detected in an aged cow that died in May on a small farm in Vorarlberg, Austria's westernmost province. (Kyodo News)
