just-food.com: Spain, Europe’s fourth-largest
organic food producer, is exporting 99.6% of its organic
food, according to the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture
and the Spanish organic food producers’ association
Spain farms 666,000 hectares organically and generates
organic food worth €173.9m (US$205.1m) annually,
reported the Spanish News Digest.
The main area in Spain for organic farming is Andalucia,
in the south of the country, where 225,600 hectares
are devoted to organic farming. Olive oil accounts for
most of Spain’s organic production at 40%.
