by just-food.com: Made-in-the-EU will not be a beef labeling
option for European producers. Despite the European Commission’s
backing of the more encompassing labeling system, member agricultural
ministers voted to retain their individual country labels.
Ministers did agree to harmonize the voluntary labeling specifications
and simplifying EU rules on beef batches. Ministers also said beef
origin labeling rules should not yet be extended EU-wide to restaurants,
but that member states could impose such rules nationally.
The ministers also voted and rejected proposals to allow the supply
of meat from more than one Member State to minced meat production
