In the early 1990s, frustrated with the inefficiency of turning compost windrows with a bucket loader and daunted by the high prices of commercial turners then on the market, Rodale farm manager Jeff Moyer (center) teamed up with neighbor John Brubaker (left) to build their own. At right is John Brubaker's son Ralph, who also worked on the project.
