Up in the northern part of South Carolina is a small slice of agriculture that has not been updated to be the latest, greatest big farm. It’s a small place that raises heritage turkeys, Tamworth pigs and good-old free-range chickens for meat and eggs.

I have been told that pig farms are horrible places, which is true if you put 100 pigs or more on one acre. Here, we have a few pigs and turkeys and chickens that run free in the pasture and the meat is 100 times different that most others (I would not say it is all better cause you need to make that idea up in your own mind). But I will never go back to the "new way” of raising livestock, as I see a major difference in taste and animal well-being.
